Dental Emergencies
You have a perfectly healthy set of teeth, because you don't feel any discomfort or see anything wrong or unusual with your teeth, right? Wrong! Well, when it comes to teeth, then the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't really proves a good idea. Most people really can't tell if there is something wrong with their teeth, unless they visit a dentist or problem aggravates.

Have a look at these interesting dental facts:

Gum disease or periodontal disease is the main reason of tooth loss all across the globe. This is basically a condition in which you lose the bone that surrounds your teeth, so that even healthy teeth may come out.

A huge number of people who get diagnosed with cavities didn't even know in first place that they have had a cavity.

A large number of patients who grind or clench their teeth, experience issues like cracked teeth, chipped or worn-out teeth.

These things can be really confusing and that is likely why at some point many people find themselves meeting a dental emergency. Some emergencies are due to accidents. But, most of the dental emergencies are caused due to negligence. So here are a few simple ways on how to avoid dental emergency.

  1. If you clench or grind your teeth, wear a custom night guard. This habit of clenching or grinding teeth is termed as Bruxism. And recently it has been observed that it is increasing among individuals. Undoubtedly, stress plays a crucial role in this, but if you are diagnosed with bruxism don't take it lightly because its effects can be really harmful.
  2. Never skip brushing and flossing your teeth. There is just no alternate for prevention. Brushing and flossing your teeth at least two times in a day or after every meal, proves to be really helpful in protecting you from oral diseases, including bad breath and yellow teeth.
  3. Visit your dentist regularly. This will help you ensure that your teeth stay healthy and beautiful for long, as well as prevent any major expensive treatments or surgeries. Dentists use advanced gears and tools to check your mouth for cavities or any gum disease.
  4. If you are a sportsperson, always use an athletic mouth guard. Sports are not only fun but they are also a great exercise. But, they can also cause teeth to get knocked out, kicked out or punched out. Use only a professionally built mouth guard.
  5. Never use your teeth to open bottles or cans. No matter what, don't do it. We have restored innumerable teeth after people tried to hold or open objects with their teeth. Use a plier or a scissor or a bottle opener to carry out the job. Remember teeth are for chewing food.
