Emergency Dental Clinic
Toothache is one of the most common dental problems. Every year millions of people with toothache visit dentists in Edmonton. Nevertheless, toothache can be prevented with proper dental hygiene.

Toothache generally happens when the pulp of the tooth is infected, disturbed or exposed. The pulp is the inner layer of the toot covered in a layer of dentin and they by the tough layer that is popularly called the enamel. Toothache can also begin if only the outermost layer is damaged, exposing the dentin.

Sometimes the pain is so severe and unbearable that you have to visit an emergency dentist so that they can help you know the cause and give appropriate treatment to ease your pain.

The most popular dental causes of tooth pain are:

  • Tooth sensitivity: Strange sensation on consuming cold or cold, sour or sweet beverages and food.
  • Tooth Decay: Popularly termed as cavities.
  • Tooth Abscess: A complication of tooth cavities.
  • Gum diseases: Also known as gingivitis and in severe cases periodontal diseases
  • A cracked tooth
  • Jaw disease: Popularly called as TMJ dysfunction
Tooth Root sensitivities: This problem happens due to bacterial toxins. These toxins deteriorate the bone around the tooth, resulting in exposure of the root of the tooth causing the toothache and sensitivity.

Treatment: Visit Edmonton Emergency Dental Clinic. Sensitivity and fluoride gel toothpastes can assist the root to become stronger and in turn decrease toothache.

Tooth Decay: It happens when the acid created by bacteria in our mouth starts to affect the minerals of the enamel. This demineralisation of the enamel creates a hole in the tooth exposing the dentin which in turn causes tooth ache.

Treatment: In most cases, dentist apply a filling to the the tooth cavity. In cases of large and severe cavities the crown is recommended.

Tooth Abscesses: This condition occurs when dental cavity is left untreated. In this condition the bacteria infects the tooth from the inner pulp to the bone tissue at the end of the root resulting in tooth pain.

Treatment: This condition can be treated by a root canal procedure. In this procedure the pulp of the tooth is removed and then filled and sealed with an inert material.

Gum Disease: This dental problem occurs when the soft tissue in your mouth gets infected due to a build up of tartar or plaque along the gum line. In this condition bleeding gums is also very popular.

Treatment: Dentists usually recommend to improve your oral hygiene. Also remove the build up of tartar. In some cases root planning is also recommended which is the removal of plaque and tartar from the roots of the teeth.
