What Causes Toothaches?

  • Tooth decay
  • Abscessed tooth (a bacterial infection inside the center of the tooth)
  • Tooth fracture (broken tooth)
  • A damaged filling
  • Bruxism (Grinding teeth)
  • Infected gums.
  • Eruption

Do All emergencies require immediate attention?

At Smiles Dental Group we recommend having a dentist look at your affected area as soon as possible to determine the proper solution. Some dental emergencies may not hurt immediately after they occur but can be very painful later on. It is also possible that pain may not be an indicator of the severity at all. A tooth can crack or fracture with out causing any pain; however, the tooth may become extremely sharp which can cause injury in the mouth or become infected later on due to bacteria.

Regardless of the pain intensity, or how bad it may or may not look, having a professional look at it as soon as possible is always the best-case scenario.

What Can Be Done In Case Of A Dental Emergency?

There are many techniques used to cure emergency dental issues. These include everything from using bondable material to seal the tooth in place, to root canal therapy, and more. Depending on your specific emergency, a different solution may be needed. To find out the solution that is right for you, a visit to one of our clinics, or our emergency clinic is needed.
