![]() Keeping your teeth in top shape is not an easy task. You don't get a billion dollar smile by not doing anything and no, this is not about the money you can put in to get artificial teeth. You can easily maintain terrific teeth by taking the right steps for them. 1. Analyze your Diet The condition of your teeth matters on what you put down your throat. If you are looking to take care of your teeth, cut down on the sugary food and drinks. Carbonated drinks like Pepsi and Coca-cola are not only sweet, but acidic too. This means that a little bit of your teeth dissolves. In fact, if you ever lose a tooth, put it in a carbonated drink and watch how it dissolves. Sugary food can get stuck in your mouth and start rotting so limit your intake. 2. Brush your Teeth Twice a Day Always brush your teeth first thing in the morning and before you sleep in the night. During the night, while you sleep, the flow of saliva slows down in your mouth. Saliva plays an important role in keeping your mouth moist and preventing the growth of bacteria. Brushing your teeth acts a preventive measure. 3. Floss your Teeth A tooth brush does not remove all the food particles that get stuck in your teeth. Some get stuck in the cervices between your teeth. Flossing is an effective way to pull them out. 4. Get a Power Toothbrush A power toothbrush contains more power than manually brushing your teeth. Many of them come with timers to ensure you spend the right amount of time brushing your teeth. 5. Drink Plenty of Water Frequently Drinking water often keeps your mouth moisturized and washes away any sugar and food debris. Remember to especially drink water after you have eaten or consumed alcohol or a carbonated drink. This will further add freshness to your mouth and prevent any bad odor from being emitted. 6. Your set of teeth isn't a Swiss Knife From opening beer bottles to pulling out wine corks to tearing open plastic packets, people seem to have found all kinds of uses for their teeth apart from eating. Using your teeth in such manners puts it into strain which it is not meant for. Don't be surprised if you get a loose tooth after pulling open up a hundred beer bottles! 7. Visit the Dentist Regularly Even if you follow all these tips and keep your teeth in the best condition, make sure you drop by your dentist regularly. You aren't always aware of what's happening inside your mouth. A dentist would be the best person to take a look inside and check for cavities or tooth decays. Regular checkups are best to catch any tooth problem in its early stages and deal with it before it becomes worse. None of these steps require a great deal from you. These are small changes which will have a big impact on how awesome your teeth remain. |
